"Ancient Messenia descended continuously without change of name and with little change of territory to the modern Regional Unit of Greece of the same name. The population remained Greek although there was some immigration of Slavs, Albanians and Turks."
This is at best speculative, more likely laughable assumption. How had been this validated? Any scientific studies? Most linguistic studies of this region and overall territory of modern Greece would agree that Greek language was re-introduced in 19th century. }}
