WP:Third-party sources

[edit]

Regarding reference 12 - New OT VI Hubbard Solo Nots Auditing Course- I was unable to verify this as a reliable source. In Googling this reference, the only source I found was this [LINK: http://www.truthaboutscientology.com/stats/source/ source130.html] and there is no mention of Doven's wife. Seems that WP:NPOV and WP: Third-party resources were not complied with. Open to feedback.Carolstjohn99 (talk) 22:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be specific about what content you want changed or deleted, new editor?Bali ultimate (talk) 22:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The statement in question which cites ref 12 is "Doven's wife reached the Operating Thetan level of OT VI, in 2000." Without any reliable source to back this up I would suggest to remove it. Carolstjohn99 (talk) 18:56, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In the light of WP:Third-party sources and WP:RS, would also like to bring into discussion the reliability of Tom_Cruise:_An_Unauthorized_Biography as a resource. It doesn’t seem to comply with WP: RS. The entire paragraph starting with “Doven has served as a personal assistant to actor Tom Cruise” is almost entirely based on this book. Does this paragraph have a place in the article? He is also referred to as a “tabloid journalist” in the page Andrew_Morton_(writer). The New York Times said that he “pushes the limits of responsible reporting” and the Chicago Sun Times questioned the truthfulness of the book. Thoughts?Carolstjohn99 (talk) 22:04, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Transition to film producer

[edit]

The current article on Dolven's career seem to indicate some sort of break from Tom Cruise around the middle of the 2000s. Is that the implied meaning? Are there any sources that the two have broken off their cooperation or that Dolven was fired by Cruise? If so, it would be better to state that directly, rather then in the current circumstantial way. Thimbleweed (talk) 11:58, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Given that Gorman is not inclined to discuss anything & prefers removing sourced material without discussion with editors (instead going to BLP noticeboard without the slightest mention here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard&diff=prev&oldid=566347367), I think it's rather moot. No matter how much work I put into these articles, he seems adamant about removing them and unfortunately I risk being banned simply for trying to keep verifiable, reliable sources in the article. This is becoming ridiculous. Now another person is removing legitimately sourced material wholesale without even bothering to discuss before doing so. Nothing added here is in violation of BLP. Laval (talk) 17:20, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
