Ecuador[edit]

Does anybody know how come he was born in Ecuador?

==clarification needed==--Cjs56 18:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I read somewhere it was related to his father's work as an archaeologist, but I can't find the reference now. As a side note, would it be appropriate to add this article to Category:Ecuadorian_people and the Ecuador related lists?--The One True Fred 03:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

has one sentence "In 1991 his short "Office Space" (also known as the Milton series of shorts) was picked up by Comedy Central following a Dallas animation festival. " but then later goes on to say he created the milton series of shorts for Saturday night Live. Which is it? or if both are true, there needs to be some explanation for it or it just doesn't make sense.

The Comedy Central shorts were animated and the SNL shorts were live-action, and thus distinct products --Cjs56 18:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

another question: can comebody explain this: The film, whose budget was approximately $10 million, __grossed only $10.8 million__. "Office Space" has since become a cult classic, grossing millions in video and DVD sales.

is this means that they got $10 mln from movie theaters, and then got more from delling dvd? --NickShaforostoff 16:26, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

The movie made only $10.8 million in theater reciepts, but has since made much more in DVD sales, television airings etc. --Cjs56 18:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Eagle Scout[edit]

What the source of that information? evrik 15:22, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

  • That information was added by User:Grazon, so it might be easiest to ask him. I've looked but haven't found any definitive source with a quick google search, but his IMDb bio says he was a cub scout, so a concrete source would be nice (even though personally I don't think scout rank is all that important to begin with). --TM 18:15, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
    • It's only importnat because we're trying to document all the Eagel Scouts listed here in wikipedia. evrik 18:23, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

politics[edit]

What is his political affiliation, if any? Many of the characters on king of the hill are fairly conservative, but I don't know if Judge is mocking them, supporting them, or simply telling it like it is. es72.130.177.246 20:58, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

All of Judges work seems to point towards a Burkian conservative pov.

I can't imagine anyone putting the idea of dysgenics (Idiocracy) in their movie as being left-wing. At the same time, while he champion's Hank's traditional values, this doens't automatically make him a conservative. I haven't found anything on the net regarding his politics, but I did find this http://www.avclub.com/content/node/23060 , where he says in an interview that Hank Hill is 'the character most like him', refering to himself. Whether he is talking about his personality, his politics, or both, is up to the imagination. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtd00123 (talkcontribs) 03:56, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

He states his parents were very liberal, but I'm not sure what that says of his politics.--T. Anthony (talk) 17:36, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Why is there speculation in the article? 71.251.42.46 (talk) 09:13, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

did mike judge go to westwood high school?[edit]

I've occasionally heard that Mike Judge graduated from Westwood High School although I'm unable to corroborate this via Google. Any idea as to whether or not it's true? TerraFrost 06:44, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Mike Judge graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1980.

Mike Judge cameo role in Idiocracy[edit]

I believe that Mike Judge played the Army Officer (a Major, I think) who initiated the hibernation experiment in Idiocracy. This was the officer whose arrest for pimping (after his friendship with Upgrayedd went too far) caused the experiment to be abandoned.

If anyone out there could verify this, please do so. --Naughtius Maximus Leaf.jpg F@H Woof!Za slice.jpg MeowMUN 21:12, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Judge racist?[edit]

This may not be the place for this, but looking at his "migratory" patterns (Dallas, Austin, San Diego), it seems like he might have met many many Hispanics in his day (or at the VERY LEAST SEEN). I'm just curious why it isn't in any of his work. Sure, in King of the Hill, there is a maid and a hard-laborer, but no one else. It's freggin' Texas for cryin' out loud! Therefore, I must pose this question - is he racist? To not know/meet any Hispanics in Texas and California means you must avoid them with some strong force - perhaps a forcefield that temporarily evaporates the Hispanic genes, right? Eh. Just a thought. And a question. Sgarza 07:19, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, the traditional definition of racist is believing that ones own race is superior. There has been a new additon to that definition in the American heritage dictionary, which adds, or having hatred or discrimating another race. If this is the case, then Mike Judge is neithier. He has shown no evidence that he hates hispanics or belives his race is superior, and honestly, the word racist is thrown around so much nowadays that I think people have forgotten what it means. Also, I've seen more hispanics in his show then you are stating. Ignorant of the demographics of Texas? Yes. Racist? No.--75.176.82.74 (talk) 04:26, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
King of the Hill has more Hispanic characters than most sitcoms I've seen. The characters watch Mexican television and visit Mexico on occasion. There's been several episodes specifically against racism. The Hills do live in a mostly white-neighborhood, but I'm guessing that's not unheard of in Texas.--T. Anthony (talk) 23:57, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Judge's work (specifically King of The Hill) reflects no racism. In fact, he has celebrated diversity by incorporating a variety of characters throughout the show: Khan being of Laos dissent, Enrique (Hank Hill's Hispanic Co-Worker), Dale's queer Cowboy father and his Filipino partner, Raul... The list goes on.... --DavidD4scnrt (talk) 08:54, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Mike Judge is definitely not a racist. He used to play guitar for a famous old black blues musician Sam Myers. And who cares if his shows' main characters tend to be white? Mike Judge is white. There is no reason to have to include every culture in everything you do. And just because you aren't included does not necessarily mean you are purposely discluded. It's a TV show for goodness sake! I'm not offended by programming that is obviously geared towards black people, or hispanic people. Why do minorities always seem to constantly look for reasons to be offended and then start throwing "racist" around? Grow up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.94.56.73 (talk) 17:04, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I am a non-white person myself, and I think this question by Sgarza is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Maybe there should be racial quotas now for exact percentages of fictional characters in every film? That would be one dull, boring world we'd live in. Hanxu9 (talk) 22:13, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hispanics are not a different race, nor are they homogeneous. They can be of European, indigenous, African, or any other descent just as any nationality can include any number of races. So excluding Hispanics is not racist. Whether Judge is racist or not, he admittedly does not include Hispanics or depict them well in his series, King of the Hill. There is a large Hispanic population residing in Texas, the setting for the series. Texan Hispanics can often be somehow traced to Mexico, whether politically, through descent or by immigration. Judge has excluded Hispanics in a manner which seems intentional and unnatural. These facts should be acknowledged and not dismissed or ridiculed as the other contributors have done. {/br}This series could have been an excellent opportunity to explore Mexican-American life in a natural way. But somehow, they are just erased, as Woody Allen ignored the numerous Puerto Ricans residing in New York. It is inappropriate to eliminate the possibility of Judge's discrimination and exclusion merely based the fact that he has one Black musician friend. Sgarza did not mention quotas, nor make any demands; he merely reported a perception of racism. The contributors who are making entries here seem to be hostile to the concept of racism and discrimination.

Jackass appearance[edit]

Mike Judge listed as dead?[edit]

I noticed that someone recently edited Mike Judge's page indicating that he had died, no citing. I've been trying to find some proof of that in the news and through searches but have yet to come up with any evidence. Just doing some fact-checking. Anyone know if Mike Judge's death is confirmed / real? Kriastis (talk) 20:21, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

What ever happened to the Goode family[edit]

The links have been expunged from the ABC web site. Why - Is Mike Judge toooooo un-politically-correct. Is this censorship - What is the real story? I thought that the Goode Family was a great show. Mike Judge listed as Hispanic[edit]

Would it be correct to list Mike Judge as Hispanic since he was born in Ecuador? His race may be of Caucasian decent but his nationality would be Hispanic since he was born in a country who's population is predominantly Spanish speaking? Not sure how that works. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.167.252.143 (talk) 09:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I thought hispanic people were caucasian too...Japf (talk) 22:58, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

While he was born in Ecuador, he was born to American parents and was born a US citizen. Neither parent was Hispanic. 69.29.207.109 (talk) 02:21, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Date of Birth[edit]

There are two different years listed on the page. 1962 and 1966. If he graduated HS in 1980, 1962 is probably correct but..... --EricPZ (talk) 23:34, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Depiction of Non-Whites[edit]

I am stunned that someone deleted the observation that Judge depicted Blacks as violent pimps and prostitutes in his film Idiocracy. This is clearly a fact as the film is readily available for viewing by anyone who can purchase it or rent it. Wikipedia is not a PR tool, to be used to enhance or manipulate any individual's public image. Judge's depiction of Blacks as social degenerates in his films are mere facts that are available to anyone who watches his films. Please do not stoop to censoring or deciding what is relevant merely based on a discounting of a given racial, ethnic or other social group.

Can you give a reference from a reputed source? Poshida (talk) 04:59, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

{{edit semi-protected}} Please do not remove the section which informs the reader that Judge depicted Blacks unfavorably in his film Idiocracy as a pimp and a prostitute.— Preceding unsigned comment added by VaniNY (talkcontribs)

First, this is not what that template is for--it is used when an article is semi-protected, so that IP or new users can edit it. Second, no sections in an article are ever "protected" in the sense that they cannot be changed. Third, just like over at Talk:King of the Hill, this is pure original research, not allowed by Wikipedia policy. You need to immediately stop adding unsourced, personal analysis/opinions to Wikipedia. If you want to make your own, personal analysis of Mike Judge or his work, there are hundreds of place on the internet where you can do that, but Wikipedia is not one of them.
