stats[edit]

I have just removed the following comments from within the article:

This is all very well, but for people who don't know ice hockey that well, where is the legend for this chart? Goals scored (G) is fairly obvious, but what is (A)? Goals against? What? And what is PIM? Chart legend should be universal. Don't assume we know what these random figures mean.

-- They -are- universal. On any hockey site, stat page or information book you will find. Please know what you're talking about before you speak.

guess they belong here, if anywhere.--Bilbo B 18:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed reference, that I actually edited prior to checking up on it and removing it, to Modano being the all-time leading NHL goal scorer among American-born players. That honour belongs to Joe Mullen for the moment, although Modano, barring injury, will surely pass him this season. Modano, is, however, the leading active American goal- and point-scorer.

According to recent NHL-stats, Mike Modano IS, in fact, the butcher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.32.97.167 (talk) 22:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing the passage that says Modano is the all-time assists leader among U.S.-born players, as that distinction still belongs to Phil Housley. Apologies for improper formatting of a citation here... http://www.hockey-reference.com/pp/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=1&year_min=1918&year_max=2009&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&birth_country=US&franch_id=&is_active=&is_hhof=&pos=&handed=&c1stat=&c1comp=gt&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=assists

--[[User:Bweb25]Bweb5]] Incorrect Passage: Modano is also one of just two players who played in the NHL in the 1980s who are still active in the NHL (the other is Mark Recchi).

- Teemu Selanne played in the 80s and is on the Ducks active roster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bweb25 (talkcontribs) 18:22, 16 April 2011 (UTC) Statement is correct as Selanne's first year in the NHL was 1992–93. --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 18:07, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suitable reference?[edit]

I'm not that familiar with adding references for Wikipedia articles, so somebody please discuss whether this reference would satisfy the "citation needed" next to "He is generally regarded as one of the best American-born players in NHL history": http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/article/2010-04-09/if-modano-goes-so-does-greatest-generation Mojo Tooth (talk) 20:24, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's just one man (Ken Hitchcock) praising him. The whole statement needs to be rephrased or removed per WP:PEACOCK and WP:WEASEL. ccwaters (talk) 20:32, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Right. In that case, it's no wonder that people don't bother cleaning that kind of thing up. I would rather have a blunt truth sitting there with "citation needed", than remove it because I can't find a document that states the obvious. Mojo Tooth (talk) 06:28, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's where Wiki policy disagrees with you: verifiability, not truth. I'll delete it in a few days if its not reworded to satisfy the issues. ccwaters (talk) 13:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nice job being punitive. Nothing would have happened at all if I hadn't brought it up. I was actually trying to help and find a reference, I guess that's where I was mistaken. Good job proving right all the people that despise the attitudes of Wikipedia editors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mojotooth (talkcontribs) 17:40, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1 day contract money part[edit]

I compltely understand why the stars signed Modono and think they did the right move but why did they pay him 999,999 dollars when he didnt play for him. Was this just a nice generous bonus? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.3.250 (talk) 04:48, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 25 October 2017[edit]

The current sentence is this: "He is the all-time goal-scoring and points leader amongst American-born players in the NHL, as well as the last active player in the NHL who played for the North Stars when the team was in Minnesota."

This is incorrect.

Mike Modano is second all-time in goals, assists, and points amongst American-born players in the NHL, as well as the last active player in the NHL who played for the North Stars when the team was in Minnesota.

He is second in goals and points behind Brett Hull, and second in assists behind Phil Housley.

Not done: According to the article on Hull he was born in Canada. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:30, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
