Can we get anything on the problems radio stations had with the line "I got a taste of the real world when I went down on you girl ..."? Wasn't there a censorship issue and a differently worded version of the song? Daniel Case (talk) 02:23, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • As mentioned in the article, there was a radio edit that cut about half the length of the song. The radio edit cut out almost half of the lines in the verses and some repetitions of the chorus, not just the line in question. The other lines cut for radio, such as "Oh, I've been to so many places/I've seen some things/I know, love is the answer/Keeps holding this world together," (I think these lines were cut for radio) were not cut because they were offensive, but just to improve the song's appeal to radio programmers who didn't normally play six-minute songs. As the Billboard magazine review cited indicates, the radio edit was already the one that appeared when "Miracles" was released as a single. I didn't find anything in my research about stations that played the longer album version having censorship problems, though. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 20:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Supernatural[edit]

I don't know the best way to "introduce" this information, but I feel it's noteworthy that the song's inclusion in an episode of Supernatural was part of a running joke. one of the characters was told that since he "discovered" a new variety of monster he could name it, so he calls them Jefferson Starships "because they're horrible and hard to kill." rather than anyone suggesting an alternate, this name is used throughout the episode, sometimes shortened as "Starships".

the fact that this was the song that played on the jukebox in the final scene was a final nod to this running joke, as the song didn't suit the mood of the scene at all. 209.89.162.178 (talk) 18:53, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
