RfC: Deletion/merge[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Should this page be redirected to List of Indian monarchs? DrKay (talk) 17:03, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is already another page entitled "Emperor of India", which seems to be a duplicate of this page. So it make sense to delete this one, or merge any additional information into the other page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.183.188.146 (talkcontribs) 04:01, 11 April 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes. There are no reliable sources using the term "monarchy of India" for George VI's short term of office and all the information in this article is duplicated at Dominion of India. Any incoming links to this article should be changed to link to Dominion of India. DrKay (talk) 17:03, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes. Surprising that somebody went to the trouble of creating this page without a single reliable source attesting the term. I agree that a redirect to Dominion of India is better. But I doubt if anybody will really look up "Monarchy of India." - Kautilya3 (talk) 00:13, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes - Like the above users have already said, no reliable sources supporting the information. Comatmebro User talk:Comatmebro 23:03, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes – what's the point of having such an article? --Pete (talk) 00:14, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes - merge to whatever you folks wish. GoodDay (talk) 01:00, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As it has been a week since the last comment and a merge is supported unanimously, I will go ahead. Thanks for participating in the discussion! DrKay (talk) 10:15, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Correct redirect[edit]

Hello again fellow editor @Kautilya3, I noticed that you recently reverted one of my edits. I do not seek to editwar and so I opened this discussion. Monarchy of India refers head of state of "India", nor the various states and kingdoms historically existing in the Indian subcontinent. Thus, this should redirect to List of heads of state of India#Monarch of India (1947–1950) or else we should just request the deletion of this page. Thank you. PadFoot2008 (talk) 10:00, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also please consider this a parallel discussion for King of India as well. That should definitely redirect to List of heads of state of India#Monarch of India (1947–1950). The particular title wasn't held by any particular "Indian" monarch at all. PadFoot2008 (talk) 10:06, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
lHi PadFoot2008, I admire your enthusiasm, but you are cotinuing to engage in WP:OR, which is becoming disruptive. If you have a RS that discusses "Monarchy of India", then present it. Otherwise, let it rest. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:52, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kautilya3, I have already said that this page should be deleted if it doesn't have a use. I don't know if I can produce an RS but I've already stated a reason as to why this this page shouldn't be redirecting to List of Indian monarchs. Monarchy of India should relate to an institution of the Indian state. Similar would be "Monarchy of Mewar" for the Kingdom of Mewar or "Monarchy of Mysore" for the Kingdom of Mysore. Those monarchies can't be called monarchy of India. I do not request this page be redirected to List of heads of state of India#Monarch of India (1947–1950). I request this page not serve as a redirect to any page at all and be deleted.
Also in my defence, my initial edits on the good article Annexation of Junagadh, were made in unknowing, not original research or self made content. In that discussion too, I was open to suggestions and my suggestions were merely "formats" and my only request was to change the lead sentence. PadFoot2008 (talk) 14:16, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kautilya3, I request your response. PadFoot2008 (talk) 16:17, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Did you notice that the redirect target was decided by an RfC above? You are wasting your time here. Better find something else to do. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:37, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please look at the RFC once more. You yourself participated in it. There were suggestions to redirect the article to – one for Emperor of India, two for Dominion of India (including you yourself) and two not stating. The Rfc didn't discuss what to redirect it to in particular, it was only for deletion of its content. Look at this Google ngram search [1]. Monarchy of India doesn't return any results, indicating the term has no reliable meaning. PadFoot2008 (talk) 16:56, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
