Helsinki pile-up[edit]

I was wondering if the Helsinki pile-up should be listed here. It doesn't seem like it should be, because it is not just one event, but accidents on "highways," or a number of pile-ups.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 13:56, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Coalinga, CA I-5 pile-up[edit]

What about adding the Nov 29, 1991 pile-up on I-5 near Coalinga, CA? 17 people were killed, 150 injured, 104 cars and big rigs involved. http://www.nytimes.com/1991/12/01/us/scenes-of-disaster-in-pileup-that-killed-17-in-california.html http://articles.latimes.com/1991-11-30/news/mn-70_1_dust-storm — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.93.173.226 (talk) 20:06, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

HAM radio term[edit]

Pile-up is also a term in HAM radio. Tarmo Tanilsoo 18:21, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correction- for the two accidents in southern Ohio on Jan 21, 2013, the 12 year old girl only died in one of them (I-275), not both. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.219.195.98 (talk) 20:33, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

130-vehicle pileup in Sheppey, Kent, UK[edit]

If someone could add this to the list, that would be great. This morning, 130 vehicles piled up due to heavy fog on the A249 near Sheppy in Kent, UK. --82.45.79.122 (talk) 12:12, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion in table[edit]

Right now there don't seem to be any parameters for an accident to be listed in the table. I would propose that the main parameter be the number of vehicles, and that the minimum be 40, which would include all listed at this time. An especially high number of fatalities or an unlikely situation causing the accident could be exceptions. Mapsax (talk) 14:33, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add Pile-up to colloquial terms?[edit]

Given it’s use in both the article and this discussion, in addition to this page’s link from the disambiguation page for pile-up, I think it would be reasonable to add it to the list of colloquial terms for multiple vehicle collision. —162.231.240.79 (talk) 01:25, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. I've added it. I would suggest the article should be moved back to that common name. - SimonP (talk) 02:08, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

30 car pileup in Raleigh, NC[edit]

Would this fit the major pileups table in the article? 30 cars involved in a pileup recently https://abc11.com/perfect-storm-of-events-caused-30-car-pileup-on-i-40-ncdot-says/5335395/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.13.151.124 (talk) 01:07, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021 entry[edit]

The February 2021 entry says that it was on Interstate 35 (I-35) near Fort Worth, Texas. However, I-35 itself does not enter the city. Could it have been on I-35W? Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 01:50, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Multiple-vehicle collision[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Multiple-vehicle collision's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
