This is a truly terribel article

[edit]

Not only does it read like a rather pathetic fan review page, but much of it is either not cited or impossible to cite... "split fans down the middle", for pity's sake. It effectively needs a comprehensive re-write. Does someone want to do this, or shall I delete the lot and start again? 82.6.97.81 (talk) 15:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notice: Shaun Taylor-Steels has left MDB; someone please update the wiki page...

There is almost zero mention of their influence in the doom/death genres. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lhasanimir (talkcontribs) 02:17, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since you mentioned it, I put that in the article. Thanks for bringing attention to that. BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 02:52, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All Proposed Mergers

[edit]

There is not enough information to substantiate an article on any of the proposed mergers. There is mainly only a couple of lines or up to a paragraph at most. xXSouthern SlayerXx 03:05, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe they should be merged and their article entries be redirected to My Dying Bride page.

200.139.138.20 14:37, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree.

So do I, either a merge is in order, or those articles should be heavily extended. 11:25, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Of course, there's no good reason this shouldn't be done.

I also agree, there are not enough information to be a seperate article. and the same goes to all the other band members of my dying bride.

I think most of the information on the individual member articles is either present in the current article, or not needed. I'll add any relevent info and redirect the member pages to MDB. Aboverepine 22:05, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- How many votes are needed for a decision to be reached? xXSouthern SlayerXx 15:19, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree... these articles should be expanded instead. Also all these persons are notable meeting WP:MUSIC under "Has gone on an international concert tour ...", "released two or more albums..." etc etc. Moreover, the fact that it is merely a stub means that more effort should be put into writing the article all together. Another point is that it is annoying to see lists of former bands and other information not relevant to the band in that article (e.g. birth date), such information belongs in the persons bio page. Spearhead 21:02, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Let's reach a consensus: I disagree for Andrew and Adrian... These two with Aaron are very important people in the scene and are core members of one of the most important symbols of Doommetal (My Dying Bride). I agree for Hamish and Sarah, unless relevant info is added. --Richard George 22:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gothic Metal?

[edit]

This is not Paradise Lost, this is My Dying Bride.Never in their career they have played Gothic Metal.Neither in TAATDR,nor in LGOTS.

The accuracy of the given source must be examined. Sometimes ears are more accurate than the written sources.

- I definitely agree with this. I think we should include what is possibly the best doom metal reference, www.doom-metal.com. In the FAQ they clearly explain the difference between Gothic and Doom Metal. I think the real problem is that whenever the media hears a "dark" metal band, they automatically label it as "gothic/goth" metal. MDB has NOTHING to do with either. Its pure death/doom. Yes, they influenced ALOT of gothic metal bands, but they themselves are not. Fred138 02:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry guys, but MDB do have little coincidencies with Gothic metal, by my ears. And im especially on fence about TAATDR and LGOTS. Well, mostly objective, genre on those albums is "atmospheric doom", but those had gothic pieces too.

What is that Gothic nonsense? We are a metal band. Aaron Stainthorpe [reference: www.doom-metal.com] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.10.234.92 (talk) 15:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but in order for non-German speakers, such as myself, to fully appreciate the post, is it possible for there to be an English translation for that page? Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 03:18, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:MyDyingBride Logo.png

[edit]

Image:MyDyingBride Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"For this reason, Heroin Chic, with its frequent repetitions of lyrics of the "nah nah nah yeah yeah yeah" variety, as fans like this describe it, has been written off as a spit in the face of fans."

This is a weasel worded, very unencyclopedic sentence.

I'm getting conflicting reports about...

[edit]

...whether Sarah Stanton is still in My Dying Bride or not. Some sources say she still is in the band (either that or don't officially say that she left), while other (unreliable, but not dismissable) sources say that she had to leave because of her pregnancy. I know there's a new member (Katie Stone) in the band doing keyboards and violins, but I don't really know if she actually replaced Sarah Stanton's position. I've done a thorough google search and still no results. If Sarah Stanton truly did leave because of her pregnancy, can somebody please show some worthy references to prove it? Thanks. BTC 19:22, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Sarah's still on the official site, although that could just be in need of an update. Still, usuaualy, when someone can no longer perform in a band due to events like these, the members only take time out of the band, not leave altogether - with that in mind, I don't think we can say that Sarah has actually left if there are no reliable sources proving it ≈ The Haunted Angel 20:08, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I understand. Yeah, mydyingbride.org is in need of an update, since Katie Stone's profile isn't really up yet. Hopefully we can find out soon about Sarah Stanton. BTC 20:30, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Sorry about screwing up your name in the last edit summary. BTC 20:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah - we'll just have to wait and see what the official site says. Oh, and no worries ^_~ ≈ The Haunted Angel 20:52, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Band pic

[edit]

I made a band picture out of four pictures of members already out on Wikipedia. It's not much, but better than nothing. - Aki (talk) 17:30, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's pretty cool. I like the pictures that you compiled into one pretty cool picture. BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 03:21, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since Sarah Stanton is no longer with the band, and the Lena Abé article has a picture (which I assume is free) we could re-compile the existing image with a picture of Lena instead of Sarah, what do you think? MammonI.Dumah (talk) 18:02, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would be cool with that idea. It would make sense, since, as you said, Sarah Stanton is no longer in the band. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 19:50, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yet with an odd number of members, I think we need a better free alternative (perhaps a concert photo) to display everyone. Also the members list needs an update; the official website no longer lists Dan as a member. MammonI.Dumah (talk) 23:54, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinions? MammonI.Dumah (talk) 00:18, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the image is good, and would be fit for the default picture on the article. As for Dan Mullins not being credited as an official member anymore, I have updated the article accordingly. I don't have too much experience with those band member tables, which kind of shows with the amount of edits I gave to that area of the article. Calvin Robertshaw merge

[edit]

I support the merge to this page. He isn't notable for being a member of any band other than My Dying Bride, and the article consists of four unsourced sentences. That article doesn't establish itself as worthy to me. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 23:39, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Gray is not a 'former session member' of My Dying Bride - I have played every live show from 2010 through to now and shall continue until further notice, currently rehearsing the european tour for 2012 thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.174.71.215 (talk) 12:14, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My Dying Bride discography

[edit]

Support split - Discography section is long and should be split to a new article entitled My Dying Bride discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 04:30, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
