A fact from Nasreddin Murat-Khan appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 19 January 2014, and was viewed approximately 743 times (disclaimer) (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Since he migrated to Pakistan in 1950, he can be called a Soviet immigrant as the Soviet Union was the entity that existed during that period. However, the Soviet Union came into formation in 1922, and I am not sure what entity existed before that. As he was born in 1904, we need to determine for legal purposes what the political entity is where he was born. I will probably ask for help from WikiProject Russia on this as I'm not too sure. Thanks for fixing that up. The question that arises now is what is the correct demonym for someone born in the Russian Empire? He can't be called Soviet-born obviously as Soviet Union did not exist in 1904, hence that mistake was fixed. Is someone born during the Empire called "Russian-born" or do we have another terminology? Just want to get the facts right ;) Mar4d (talk) 18:58, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
