A different Ron Artest incident?[edit]

Is the mention of Ron Artest "assaulting a heckler in anger" from a different incident than the Pistons-Pacer's brawl? If so, we should really have a citation for that. The domination factor[edit]

Although this is somewhat mentioned in the "conspiracy theories" section, I believe a very underrated, probably the greatest, reason for the decline in the league's popularity is how the fans have now learned that teams with one or two extremely talented superstars maybe in line for a litter of championships. They find it disappointing to know that Bill Russell and the Celtics won 8 championships in the '60s and to see this domination trend continue, with a brief pause in the '70s when the ABA was in existence, to this day where Shaq and Duncan have won numerous championships A.J. (after Jordan). In contrast, many people feel that college basketball maybe the epitome of parity in the 6 men's team sports so focused in the United States. -Amit

Age Limit busts[edit]

I don't think Darius Miles and Robert Swift should be used as examples of busts. Miles has had a solid career so far, albeit, with bad teams, but he has still produced. Robert Swift has just begun his NBA career and if he wouldn't have torn his ACL in the pre-season, he would be the starting center for the Sonics. Two real good examples would be James Lang and Nnudi Edi. Two guys who could have developed if they went to college, but they entered the draft out of high school and failed miserably. Didn't play in a single NBA game.

Mfs57 I think that the issue that really needs to be addressed is the encouragement of the NBA on the educational standing of their players. While examples of maturity is one issue that is addressed, I believe that the main concern of the NBA was their image towards education. It was important for the NBA to implement success in the classroom that would help build the lives of players after they may have played in the NBA. While the article has good examples, I think there could be an additional section on why it is important for players to receive a solid educational background before joining the league. —Preceding undated comment added 05:10, 10 February 2012 (UTC).

Game 6 of 1998 Finals[edit]

I didn't realize I wasn't logged in when I added/edited this section. Somebody else can edit it for POV, I suppose, but this game is among the most notorious conspiracy theory magnets in the past decade (and possibly the earliest), and I could not believe that it was omitted from the section.MahlerFan 17:09, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations of NBA bias[edit]

I don't think this really belongs in here. It's hardly controversial or that big of a criticism. All sports cater to superstar and big market teams. If anything move it to an article on NBC's coverage of the NBA. I deleted a section on ESPN's coverage which was nothing than a rant on why the person dislikes the way ESPN covers basketball. 2004 NBA Finals[edit]

How could this have been left out?

The Lakers, who had led the NBA in free throw differential during the regular season, had more than 12 fewer free throws per game than the Pistons did.

The refereeing was atrocious. I understand that one's being a fan of a particular team affects the way he interprets the nature of the refereeing, but in my view the calls and non-calls were almost all in the Pistons' favor. I believe that the reason for this is that the Lakers so dominate the attention of basketball fans, most anyone who is not a Laker fan is a Laker-hater. But, having admitted my bias, I now return you to an indisputable fact:

I think there needs to be more. This year's with the Hornets getting it after Tom Benson bought the team from the league. The Bulls winning and getting Derrick Rose with about a 1% chance of doing so, just as the Blackhawks were beginning to overtake the winter sports scene in Chicago.
