History of major changes in classification

[edit]

I think could be interesting having an history of the most important changes in various editions of this mineral classification. --Sbisolo (talk) 16:26, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You need a source with an overview ;) --Chris.urs-o (talk) 19:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The story is complicated. As I understand, both, Strunz and Nickel were members of the IMA/CNMNC; so the story of the classification and the story of the IMA/CNMNC got entangled. You can see some notes here as well. --Chris.urs-o (talk) 18:26, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And in a way, Theophrastus, Pliny the Elder, Georgius Agricola, August Breithaupt, Carl Friedrich Christian Mohs and James Dwight Dana were forerunners. --Chris.urs-o (talk) 18:27, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
