Libre and Politics[edit]

The song "Libre!" ("Free!") was a symbol between FOLLOWERS of General Augusto Pinochet and was popular at the time. I'm doing the correction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.50.11.42 (talk) 21:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

After doing several hours of research, I think it is very clear that this song was popular among supporters of Pinochet's regime in Chile. Essentially, its apolitical lyrics were ideal for right-wing regimes like Franco's Spain or Pinochet's Chile, and in Pinochet's Chile it's title was meant to imply freedom from Allende's Marxism (Varas, José Miguel, and Juan Pablo González. 2005.
