Sources[edit]

This seems to have been a fairly obscure unit (perhaps because it was only formed very late in the war). Indeed as far as I can see there is no 19 Sqn listed in any of the usual sources, including Eather Flying Squadrons of the Australian Defence Force, Barnes The RAAF and the Flying Squadrons or RAAF Historical Section Units of the Royal Australian Air Force: A Concise History. Does anyone have any other sources that could be added, its a bit light on at the moment? Anotherclown (talk) 23:24, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

@Nick-D:@Ian Rose: G'day, gents, do you guys have anything that could help with this? Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 23:27, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
The book The Fourth Ally : The Dutch forces in Australia in WWII might have some material - as far as I know it's the main work on this subject. There's also some stories in Trove and the wording of this AWM website implies that 19 Squadron was a joint RAAF-Dutch unit like 18, 119 and 120 Squadrons. Nick-D (talk) 00:00, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Nick - some good sources there (especially form Trove). Unfortunately I don't have access to Hurst (although its been on my ever-expanding "to buy" list for years). Anotherclown (talk) 00:56, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't find anything except in 90 Years of the RAAF, which is essentially the APDC's timeline in book form. Curiously, this entry had been completely reworded for the book but the gist was the same, except that it explicitly stated that the unit carried on against the nationalists when it reverted to Dutch control. N.B. I don't know that OzAtWar would be considered a reliable site (at least for B-Class and above), even though it contains a lot of interesting info. I try to use it as a pointer to discover and reliably source details I wasn't previously aware of... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 01:14, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
There's also a little bit of useful material on the squadron in this RAAF conference publication - search for "19 squadron". I agree with Ian's comments on OzAtWar - its often not reliable. Nick-D (talk) 02:58, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks everyone, I am going to try to get the Hurst book from the work library. If I can, I will try to replace all the Oz at War refs. Cheers, AustralianRupert (talk) 04:46, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
