# Talk:Normal-inverse-gamma distribution

Notation is inconsistent with regard to the distribution of ${\displaystyle \mu }$. In the definition, mean is ${\displaystyle \lambda }$ and variance is ${\displaystyle \sigma ^{2}/v}$, but in the section about generating values from the distribution, mean is ${\displaystyle v}$ and variance is ${\displaystyle \sigma ^{2}/\lambda }$. I don't have a reference handy so I'm not sure which one is correct. Ksimek (talk) 23:40, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
