External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 9 external links on Nortel. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

As of February 2018, "External links modified" talk page sections are no longer generated or monitored by InternetArchiveBot. No special action is required regarding these talk page notices, other than regular verification using the archive tool instructions below. Editors have permission to delete the "External links modified" sections if they want, but see the RfC before doing mass systematic removals. This message is updated dynamically through the template {{sourcecheck}} (last update: 15 July 2018).

  • If you have discovered URLs which were erroneously considered dead by the bot, you can report them with this tool.
  • If you found an error with any archives or the URLs themselves, you can fix them with this tool.

Legacy section[edit]

It's unclear to me if the description of E-MetroTel is appropriate for this article, as opposed to having its own article. What does everyone think? isaacl (talk) 17:52, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

Regarding this edit: All of this detail regarding E-MetroTel is better suited for a separate article on the company itself (although even so, all of the detailed staffing positions would generally not be included in a company article). isaacl (talk) 18:18, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

I propose reverting the edit. isaacl (talk) 22:18, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
As there has been no feedback, I plan to revert this edit. isaacl (talk) 17:21, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
I see that the IP reinstated the edit, and re-removed it. The IP again reinstated it, and I have removed it with another pointer to discuss the matter here. If the IP continues without discussion, page protection may be needed: I would suggest a WP:3O, but I see you already solicited others' eyes on the NPOV noticeboard. -sche (talk) 18:24, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
I also put requests for feedback on the discussion pages of WikiProject Companies and WikiProject Telecommunications. Technically since more than one IP has reverted, there are more than two parties involved, and there hasn't been any discussion, both of which makes this strictly speaking ineligible for requesting a third opinion. Frustratingly, the relevant noticeboards I've thought of are more geared towards reporting problematic behaviour from a single editor (including the neutral point of view noticeboard, but I felt it was nonetheless the most suitable venue to seek assistance). I just want to get more people involved in the discussion so a consensus can be reached. isaacl (talk) 22:37, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
One of those IPs is identifiable an an E-MetroTel corporate IP, I suspect the other ones are employees too. Shritwod (talk) 22:36, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
I am aware of potential conflict of interest issues. I'd rather just reach an agreement on the basic question I posed: does this section belong within this article? I appreciate any help. isaacl (talk) 00:02, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
Media coverage is scant, they'd never pass notability guidelines for their own article. In the context of Nortel, I would lean towards them being included if I could find any evidence that they'd bought Nortel's IP or part of the business, and I can't find any such evidence. So I lean towards removing it. Shritwod (talk) 06:34, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
