I've noticed that ever since I admittedly roughly reverted your uninformed removal of a line regarding Daniel O'Connell's ancestry I added to his page, you have singled out a few other articles I was editing or adding to, the Callaghan page being one of them. The fact that I added a reference seems to have aroused your "suspicions" or need to passively fire back. Unfortunately I do not have a drop of Callaghan blood in me and so I can't even think about this personally, but their article should not suffer because I accused you elsewhere of editing a nobleman's article like a commoner. The Callaghan family is regarded as nobility in Ireland and you don't appear to know that much about them, or you would have fixed the non-existent problems yourself.
I'm afraid I need to ask you to demonstrate you have some knowledge of the Irish aristocracy, specifically the Eóganachta. I authored their article, as well as the O'Donovan article. DinDraithou (talk) 19:08, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this information. I would just like to point out that I make dozens of edits each week and am not particularly interested in who authors the articles - if I notice that an article needs references and I cannot supply them myself I might tag it, and in many cases will provide a reference myself later and remove the tag. I read the article because one of my ancestors is indeed a Callaghan (from Scotland) and the information in the article did not tally with what I had been told by my relatives, so I looked for a reference and didn't find one, and did not have time to read up and provide one myself. I go to a lot of trouble to provide references in articles I have created or worked extensively on, so I don't think it's too much to look for even a single reference. It's in everybody's interest to improve the articles. You may not be aware of it, but it is strictly against Wikipedia policy to remove maintenance templates without reason. I have been working professionally in Irish family research for the past few months, so may have tagged other articles relating to Irish families or Irish history, in particular relating to Dublin. Again, I'm not targeting any single article or editor. Hope this helps clear up matters.Hohenloh +
Then I've mistaken you for another kind of editor and I'm sorry for it. If you have knowledge of other Callaghan septs then you should add it here. I know a great deal about the Eóganachta and their septs but if there are others, possibly unrelated, then they should be mentioned here. Or are we talking about the same people? See the references I've included in the Eóganachta article. You could also contact their estate's hotel and get some good info from the family itself.
