Poor definition[edit]

"An optical comparator (often called just a comparator in context) is a device that applies the principles of optics to the inspection of manufactured parts"

This applies to anything from cameras to microscopes; a more precise definition is needed. Unfortunately, the article is currently so poor I can't deduce what this device actually does!
