Needs Work[edit]

This article needs work.

Firstly, according to Henry Olivier, one of the consulting engineers who worked on the Orange River Project, none of the consortia which were involved in the tunnel design was purely South African, so the information provided on the plateau section is currently incorrect.

Also, the consortium that designed and built the inlet section included Italian and French firms.

The figures given about construction fatalities seem to be incorrect. The total given in this article is 51. However, the Department of Water Affairs produced a film about the tunnel construction that states that more than 60 people had been killed in construction accidents before March 1970. By the time that the tunnel was opened in 1975, the official figure seems to have risen to over 100.

This article needs extra citations from reliable sources, which seem to be lacking at this point. SmallMossie (talk) 15:29, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
