Is this an actual genre, outside of Allmusic (who don't actually define it: [1])? In other words, does anyone else use such categorization? -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:38, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about Paul Whiteman, William Grant Still, and Rhapsody in Blue? I think I have seen those musicians and that work referred to in this way.BassHistory (talk) 09:55, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ellington[edit]

No mention of the contributions of Billy Strayhorn? WTF!?

Just mentioned Strayhorn as well as other members of the Ellington band. I also added a section on Count Basie as you cannot discuss orchestral jazz/big band without talking about the impact of the Basie band (especially the rhythm section). Izlhyl (talk) 23:58, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Europe =[edit]

Les Six, Ravel and (in the UK) Constant Lambert? And lots of good sources on this area not referenced. Will try and take a look.Sfjohna (talk) 06:55, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
