I'm going to add a bit about this marque, even though it is not my specialty. I know there are lots of Ossa guys out there who can add things. RUReady2Testify 00:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK I added some stuff--not much substantive, but attempted to weave the given facts into a historical context by mentioning the 1960s motorcycle boom, the fate of many small makes, Spanish influence on trials and MX.

Some things occurred to me:

I think t s best to use the present tense in the lede graf-- Ossa is a marque--inasmuch as there are many people involved in using these motorcycles today and it is--as a vintage marque--alive and kicking.

It is best not to refer to corporations as "they." A corporation is an it. AND it is SINGULAR--this is so even in Britain, where some people (even educated people, sometimes) refer to a corporation as plural out of (bad) habit, it is correct to refer to a singular thing as singular. It is incorrect to for example to say "the company are making plans for a new factory." I always love to hammer a point deep into the ground, so I'll mention that that is what "incorporation" is all about! To give a group or a "company" of individuals one corpus or one BODY, so to speak. Individuals who may be constituent owners of the corporation have legally removed themselves from liability, and thus the language removes them grammatically. Strange passage[edit]

"Ironically, the motorcycle boom that created a new market and allowed the European makes to reap great financial rewards, was also the seed of their own demise, and that of the numerous smaller firms, such as Ossa. With so many choices of make for both buyers and dealers, sales and service networks were not sustainable, and attempts to improve manufacturing by investing in new factories back home, put Ossa, like virtually every other European firm, deep into the red." What does this mean? The use of commas is very confusing (the same goes for most of the article actually. It seems like another factor (the quality and cost-effectiveness of Japanese machines, perhaps?) has been omitted from the section.--MartinUK (talk) 16:46, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
