As far as I know, the claim that the paper in a paper popper breaks the sound barrier is a popular misconception. My understanding is that no part of the paper breaks the sound barrier, but rather there is blast wave resulting from air rushing to enter the vacuum created in the opening fold of paper. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. 00:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
