Witch Burnings[edit]

The penalty for witchcraft in England was hanging not burning at the stake, although if the accusation was of husband-murder this could be punished as petty-treason which could be punished by burning. So I was surprised to be told that there were medieval witch burnings. When I checked the 2 reeences neither support this --Streona (talk) 20:16, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

You're quite right. Have fixed the text - a fault of (my own) misreading of the sources. Thanks for pointing this out Dick G (talk) 21:35, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
