Birth years of crew members[edit]

In South Shackleton refers to McNish as "over 50 years of age". He also refers to Vincent as "a young man". Huntford, in his Shackleton biography, says McNish was "almost twice Vincent's age". Yet the table shows only 5 years between them - McNish aged 42 and Vincent 37 in 1916. Are we certain of their birth years? Brianboulton (talk) 01:13, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't got most of my books with me at the moment so I can't check. Shackleton is confused about McNish - I'm reasonably certain about his dates (though I'd have to look back to see where I got them from). Paton was a typo - should have been 1869 (from Stenhouse's archive info at the SPRI). Vincent 's dates are here here - they seem to have done a thorough job, but as soon as I get back I'll see if I can confirm them. Yomangani ^talk 02:25, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
