Untitled[edit]

I am baffled why the article on Spener would have a link to heraldry. I did a search on the heraldry page for "spener" and there were no matches. Lynn 07:11, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

This article does state that heraldry was something he studied throughout his life, and the Ludwig Biewer article in the Bibliography, perhaps added in response to your comment, seems relevant. It's probably a subject that should be expanded on in the article. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 16:38, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Intimate friend of a major hymnwriter. Possible expansion of article.[edit]

Johann Jakob Schütz was a significant hymnwriter, perhaps best known for "Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above". That hymn was used by Bach in Sei Lob und Ehr dem höchsten Gut, BWV 117. According to the article on Schütz at http://www.hymnary.org/person/Schutz_JJ , Spener and Schütz were intimate friends. That article cites: John Julian, Dictionary of Hymnology (1907). Perhaps this connection could be added to Wikipedia's article on Spener. Oaklandguy (talk) 20:53, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Sources for future article expansion[edit]

These were listed as "sources" separate from the "reference" section, which really made them "further reading". In any case, they should be added to the article once they are being used to verify the running text.
