Alexandr or Alexandre?[edit]

The title of the article has no E on the end, while the first line of the article does. Someone find the correct one and fix it lol. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.154.41 (talk) 21:13, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Resolved
Well, the page has been moved to match first line. Pierre-Alexandr is likely how it was spelled in French [1] while it was later Anglicize to add the "e" at the end, and not a carless misspelling as indicated on the page move. A slimaler situation occurred at Aleksandr Burmistrov. While the page is now at the more Common name of Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, I have to wonder if it shouldn't have been moved to P. A. Parenteau since that is what he is called on broadcasts of Islanders games.--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 18:02, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Burmistrov is, what, Russian. I can't imagine a Gallic name missing an E like that. And I did do a cursory Google search to see what came up -- Alexandre was there. Vranak (talk) 23:53, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: move to P. A. Parenteau. Clear and unanimous consensus is established for this WP:COMMONNAME. Xoloz (talk) 03:03, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Pierre-Alexandre ParenteauP. A. Parenteau – As regarded by NHL (and everyone else), his WP:COMMONNAME is PA Parenteau. Gloss • talk 02:23, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

  • In the future, go ahead and boldy create it. But for now, I've taken care of it. :) Gloss • talk 04:50, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
  • That article is also in a language other than English. Gloss • talk 05:45, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Perhaps, but I was referring to the dash. Gloss • talk 17:05, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Support I've thought about moving it for awhile, but since there is already a redirect I had just left it alone. Almost always referred to as PA. A quick Google search shows "PA Parenteau" or "P.A. Parenteau" get 234,000 hits, "Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau" 186,000, "P.-A. Parenteau" 114,000 --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 15:18, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
  • OpposeSupport/Comment: per the "house style" here, if the article should be moved, it should be to P. A. Parenteau. HandsomeFella (talk) 20:05, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
  • @TonyTheTiger: @HandsomeFella: - I'm not opposed to P. A., either that or PA works fine but his common name is not "Pierre-Alexandre" - are the both of you saying you'd support a move to "P. A. Parenteau"? Gloss • talk 20:59, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
I would. HandsomeFella (talk) 21:15, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
Works just fine for me. I've changed the actual request to "P. A. Parenteau" Gloss • talk 21:30, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
