Italian

[edit]

Pierre Cardin is actually italian. His name is Pietro Cardino. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.226.1.136 (talk) 17:59, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Were his parents Italian or French? Does he have dual citizenship? Jim Michael (talk) 09:34, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the original claim was posted back in 2006 I doubt the ISP who posted this will be back anytime soon to respond to it... There are certainly plenty of sources online for Pietro Cardino confirming that he was born in Italy. But I would say he is considered a French fashion designer despite his birthplace. Based on this I would say his parents were definitely Italian. Mabalu (talk) 09:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is Pierre Cardin a Muslim convert?

[edit]

There are many reports in the media that Pierre Cardin has converted to Islam. Is there any truth to this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.255.230.227 (talk) 08:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jeanne Paquin

[edit]

She died before 1945. There's no way he could've worked with her in Paris if he moved there in 1945. Unless the mention was on the Jeanne Paquin House. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.176.164.48 (talk) 23:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brand vs. individual?

[edit]

This article is largely about him as an individual. Shouldn't the article be either expanded to include more about the company, or a separate page for the company? Centerone (talk) 21:52, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A separate article for Pierre Cardin (company) would be extremely appropriate. Mabalu (talk) 22:53, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Palais Bulles not built by Cardin

[edit]

The construction of the Palais Bulles was unrelated to Cardin. The article on the building clearly states, that it was built by the architect Antti Lovag at the behest of the industrialist Pierre Bernard. Cardin merely bought the house. Any objects to a revision? (Lucas(CA) (talk) 01:00, 11 January 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Rewrite

[edit]

Article needs a big rewrite. Repetition, ambiguity, lack of sourcing, gibberish and potential close paraphrasing.

Look at the bit where we discuss mini/maxi skirts of 1970s and then the next paragraph. Seems to be discussing broadly the same thing but, as a complete non-fashionista, it also makes no sense to me because mini skirts are popularly associated with the 1960s. The entire article is sloppy and my recent edits just touch the surface. - Sitush (talk) 03:49, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

LGBT categories

[edit]

There is nothing in the article about his personal life, and nothing to support being placed in any LGBT categories. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 03:14, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how to rephrase this, but it's clearly problematic at the moment. Do we have sources saying he was bisexual, for instance? AleatoryPonderings (???) (!!!) 17:47, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In both sources for the section (and in a few more) he is identified as "openly homosexual". I'd simply remove "mostly" from the paragraph - one heterosexual affair doesn't mean he wasn't gay. Several articles ([1][2][3][4][5]) also speak of Cardin's relationship with Andre Oliver, his assistant. Perhaps this should be mentioned? KtosKto64 (talk) 22:08, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
