Publishing date contradiction[edit]

This article says the novel was published in 1953. The Arthur C. Clarke article says 1951. Which is correct? 23skidoo 19:28, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This has been fixed. It turned out both articles were correct but then things got messy.

This article started out with "Prelude to Space is Arthur C. Clarke's first published science fiction novel."

Prelude to Space was written in 1947, published in magazine format in 1951, and then published in novel (book) format in 1953.
The Sands of Mars was written and first published in novel (book) format in 1951.

I decided the best fix was to move the language about Prelude to Space being the first published novel over to the The Sands of Mars article. I also updated Arthur C. Clarke#Select novels to move Prelude to Space from 1951 to 1953. --Marc Kupper|talk 01:48, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
