Most of this information about the show is incorrect and was misinterpreted based on the external link referenced on the page. The show is currently planned to consist of a team of 5 guys (a machinist, a mechanical engineer, a robotics master, a special effects guy, and a hardware/electronics hacker) working together to build crazy and innovative products in a ridiculously short amount of time (all the while getting filmed). Adam and Jaime do NOT work on the show nor do they have anything to do with it. The only connection is that Beyond Productions, who makes Mythbusters, also makes Prototype This. I'm not at liberty to give any more details, but I expect that future press releases from Beyond and Discovery will be more correct and factual and this Wikipedia entry can be updated as such.

August?[edit]

It's August. When's the first episode going to air?

Air date?[edit]

According to the article the series premiered on October 15th, 2008. However, the second (boxing robots) and third (traffic busting truck) episode have already been aired on Swedish Discovery Channel (2008-10-01 and 2008-10-08).

Shooting Location[edit]

It seems as though it's shot on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay, at this location: 37.817139,-122.369615[1]

Canceled[edit]

Discovery seems to have removed it from their line-up as of January 2009, which random other shows filling the Wednesday at 10 PM slot here in the US. Has the show been canceled? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.32.20.68 (talk) 16:16, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

This purports to be a post from Joe Grand (one of the show's personalities) in discovery's forum. He says ratings were good, but they got canned because the each episode took too long, and too much money to make. 99.4.73.65 (talk) 03:07, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Dates to unaired[edit]

I changed the aired dates for episodes 11-13. The source given for E11 is a broken link. Based on what I read above, in the Canceled section, it is likely that Discovery has set air dates for this show in some locations but not others. Based on a google search I am unable to find the correct air dates from any source. http://tv.nytimes.com/show/198827/Prototype-This-/overview says "Most Recent Episode - Virtual Sea Adventure" but this could just be an out of date page. The closet I can find to proving the old dates is by http://video.tvguide.com/Results.aspx?primary=Search&searchvalue=Prototype%20This!&display_mode=details&length=fullepisode witch has posted dates a few days after the page said the shows aired, however this does not say exactly that the shows aired on these dates. In an earlier search I discovered a torrent for E11-13 in Russian, but I can not find the English versions. This could mean that some locations in the world have aired the show but not others.R00m c (talk) 06:46, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

  • All 13 episodes have been aired by Discovery Channel Italy. Maybe the "cancelled" statement in the table is too radical. SalvoIsaja (talk) 09:13, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
  • All 13 episodes were aired in the USA on Discovery. The show was not cancelled, it was just not renewed for future seasons. 11-13 were aired after the Christmas break, a couple of months after 1-10. Also, all 13 episodes have subsequently been aired on the Science Channel. 71.174.196.61 (talk) 05:39, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the update. I stopped looking for this information after a few months. R00m c (talk) 19:44, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
  • SBS Australia advertised that it was a 6 episode series, and then only aired 5 episodes! The six legged car/vehicle was to be ep# 6. The episodes they did air, seem to be a randomisation, based on the episode list provided here.DaveDodgy (talk) 15:30, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
