Merge[edit]

Merge with public good. - Jerryseinfeld 17:24, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Don't be ridiculous. See Talk:Government ownership. Rd232 19:19, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
So what's the difference? - Jerryseinfeld 23:49, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I'm sure you can figure out why, say, healthcare isn't a public good by looking at those pages. If the explanation there really doesn't suffice, then for the love of God go to a public library and pick up an introductory economics textbook. Seriously, even high-school economics students know what a public good is. Rd232 11:06, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Well, don't merge with public good - but what about public value? It does express both, a good and a service. --OliverGraf 00:00, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No - they're quite different things. Public value is a way of thinking about public services. Rd232 08:33, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
...and public goods! I agree on that so put it under "See also". Would be nice to expand on it later. --OliverGraf 20:25, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Language[edit]

  • "of what a service is, so I put what it is not. Feel free to improve on this. Rd232 11:06, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Would you consider elected officials as public servants? [User:Higgsthegreat] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Higgsthegreat (talkcontribs) 13:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also one thing - why is the section on nationalisation written in the past tense and the section on privatisation written in the future tense. OK, I may not have the grammar down 100% but you know the point I'm getting at - is this NPOV? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.77.5 (talk) 22:39, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Evaluation[edit]

This article needs clearer language to provide a concise message about Public Service. A Scholarly citation for the definition of Public Service is needed as well as working in how Public Policy works with Public Service. Mr.Haynes30 (talk) 16:47, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clear Sentences and more information[edit]

Some of the paragraphs inside of this article don't possess clear sentences and have just simple errors for sentences. Also being said their aren't many paragraphs talking about public service as a whole just links you to other articles, which is not bad, but doesn't give a short sentence to where it'd be going or what it's about.Blitzs20 (talk) 16:11, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Civil / public servants[edit]

"Civil servants" (UK) are called "public servants" in Australia and maybe elsewhere.
