I've added an image of the obverse and reverse of a 1834 specimen (capped head). Floaterfluss (talk) (contribs) 15:19, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ambrose Bierce[edit]

He wrote a poem around the turn of the century, beginning:

THE LORD'S PRAYER ON A COIN.

Upon this quarter-eagle's leveled face,

The Lord's Prayer, legibly inscribed, I trace.

"Our Father which"—the pronoun there is funny,

And shows the scribe to have addressed the money…

It goes on, in his bitter-humorous style, but my question is, what quarter eagle is he talking about? I don’t recognize any of the types in the article from this description.31.94.73.86 (talk) 08:21, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
