Straight mile[edit]

Just wondering when the straight mile was introduced. The race was run around a turn until at least 1993. Tigerboy1966  10:21, 20 February 2016 (UTC)

2001 by the look of it. According to the RP result links, the races up to 2000 were marked 1m Rnd, from there on 1m Str. --Bcp67 (talk) 11:43, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, I'd been trawling through the RP's "comments in running" to find references to the straight. Tigerboy1966  12:02, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
Mentioned in commentary on C4 today, according to Jim McGrath there was some danger of a meeting being abandoned and the race was switched to the straight mile, where it has stayed since. --Bcp67 (talk) 19:20, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
