my thoughts[edit]

David on the Ratu Article as it goes into the Seru Cakobau part shouldn't both perpectives be noted? as you have told me to be Neutral shouldn't both views be shared, I have refernces to back up the points I have written, this is not an argument more just a query? I have not touched it again but I was just wondering?

also I provided references for the translation of Ratu and Adi, why were they removed I thought if anything that would help the article?

and why was my Newspaper reference removed it had relivance and refernce to what was discussed on the page, as the page itself has no reference material? I thought I was helping the article, I don't understand why my edits were removed and not considered further or at least met halfway? anyway I accept your judgement but I am not sure that I fully agree, but I am learning.

please do not take offense I am just sharing my thoughts but I accept your stance.

Comments[edit]

i know that tevita momoedonu is not a chief because if he is than why Ratu Iloilo is the chief of Vuda.Tevita is just the elder of a clan and cannot be called a Ratu. 10:06, September 19, 2007 71.197.149.166 (Talk)

It's funny how Verata is not even mentioned in any where on this article as it was where the 1st Ratu was from. The " O Koya na Ratu". Interesting indeed Vitia123 (talk) 17:55, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

thoughts on Ratu[edit]

Ra is a prefix in many titles, Ramasi, Ramalo, Rasau, Ratu etc each chief was known by his name and title in pre-colonial era it was the British who formalized the use of "Ratu" to apply like the title "Sir" in the British tradition "Ratu" would literally mean Chief, in modern Fiji it denotes Fijian nobility so as a head of a clan Tevita Momoedonu would correctly carry "Ratu" before his name, again this is my opinion based on research and general discussion amongst Fijians from various regions of our lovely islands, I will include aspects of my above comments in the article once I have th correct details of my references and sources.
