Where did this stuff come from?[edit]

This page is terribly inaccurate, along with the related Readability Test page.

1. There is no evidence that a "statistical readability survey" is more accurate than an application of a popular readability formula, which correlate .90 and better with comprehension as measured by reading tests. There are few reading tests that rate as high.

2. There is no information given here in how to conduct a reading test to measure readability. They are very difficult to do, as one must control for reading skill, prior knowledge, interest, and motivation, any of which can skew results.

There is massive research attesting to the reliability and usefulness of the readability formulas. One should become familiar with that research before attempting to write here on that subject. Bdubay (talk) 01:08, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
