Reading Terminal[edit]

There is currently no article on the Reading Terminal. Now I can see separating Reading Terminal Market from that article, but I'm not sure that this should be separate, as this was part of the railroad terminal. Would people support a move of this article to Reading Terminal, and an expansion of its scope to include the railroad operations? --SPUI (talk) 06:18, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The headhouse itself is distinct and different than the market now. They are used differently. The railroad operations are best discussed on the Reading Company page. I guess that means no I don't support this move and that they should remain separate.
Discussing the railroad operations of every Reading station in Reading Company would make that article way too big. --SPUI (talk) 20:49, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The photograph of the Reading Terminal train shed shown in Section 1.1 Construction may actually be that of the Broad Street Station train shed of the rival Pennsylvania Railroad. See the printed description below the same photograph (as in the article) shown in this link:

Compare the window pane design to this photograph of Broad Street Station "under construction" in this link:

Also, compare the number of window panes along the West curtain wall in this picture of Broad Street Station to those in the interior photograph of the train shed above:

Here is a link to a photograph of Reading Terminal "under construction." Notice that the arched roof is pointed at the top. Also note the South curtain wall window design:

Finally here is a picture taken inside the Reading Terminal Train shed looking toward the North glass curtain wall. Notice the different style of the windows and the pointed --rather than rounded arch-- compared to the first photograph above:

It is not surprising that both train shed structures look similar, as they were both designed by the Wilson Brothers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.240.192.37 (talk) 05:20, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly how has there been an open-air market since 1653? The city was only founded in the 1680s. Where did someone pull that date from? I call for a verification/correction.

Disputes[edit]

Request for Mediation[edit]

I requested mediation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal#Philadelphia_County_and_other_Philadelphia_Pages

My contributions[edit]

My only contributions were copyediting and adding one category (buildings & structures). I know this article is being disputed; I just wanted to make clear that I have no opinion and my edits are purely technical. Cheers, Her Pegship 19:02, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Picture Updated[edit]

Main Picture changed from headhouse.jpg to The_Reading_Terminal.jpg. New picture is larger and shows more of the building. Jersey856 (talk) 06:15, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
