Respiratory failure vs. Respiratory distress[edit]

Does anyone think Respiratory distress should redirect here (rather than to respiratory distress syndrome)? -- JVinocur 01:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I thought that respiratory distress was just difficulty breathing ie dyspnoea and that respiratory failure is the specific 'respiration resulting in Po2 less than 8kPa' anyone clear up?

No, respiratory distress is a symptom of respiratory failure but may also be encountered in other conditions such as metabolic acidosis. JFW | T@lk 14:58, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Causes[edit]

I removed the following list, because it attempts to be exhaustive while failing to do so. Perhaps a table with lots of references?

Any good sources that might help here? JFW | T@lk 14:58, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
