Alternate definition[edit]

User Denrookie proposed the following alternate definition:

THE MEANING OF RETROFIT IS TO BRING THE PRODUCT OR CONSTRUCTION UP TO "UNION STANDARDS" AS FOR THE HEALTH, SAFTEY,AND DURABILITY FOR ALL THE PEOPLE USING SUCH.

I moved the text here for it to be corroborated, and if so, placed in an appropiate section. --Agent Fog 15:49, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Naval use[edit]

I was really shocked to read this page and see that nowhere is mentioned one of the most important context for the use of "retrofitting"-- the upgrade of naval vessels to modern standards or with enhanced armament. There have been a few widespread retrofit projects in the modern US fleet and in WWII retrofitting was a major part of the naval strategy of the major naval powers (especially Japan and the US). In addition, several sci/fi series (star trek and its MMO property and the Starfleet Battles spinoff universe) made very heavy use of retrofitting in their lore. I'm going to Be Bold and add something in that should be uncontroversial, however feel free to message me about it! 13:46, 9 January 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wintermut3 (talkcontribs)
