According to Hampden-Sydney's yearbook (the Kaleidoscope), as well as other sources on Google Books, Richmond College football was part of the Intercollegiate Association (Eastern Division), and not an "independent." Also, the yearbook continually refers to Richmond as being the old rival. Interesting, as in modern time Richmond distinguishes W&M as their main rival while H-SC continually refers to Randolph-Macon as their bitter rival. Advice on edits will be appreciated.
