Back to Spurs?[edit]

SkySports are reporting Keane is on his way back to Spurs subject to a medical... BBC website agrees.

According to Sky Sports, he's in the Spurs Starting XI. The loan apparently expired in February of 2010. - Xatticus 02:02 EST 08.06.10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 06:03, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Reading through this, I am often struck at what appears to be fan worship, there hardly ever being a bad word said about him. I note that there is no mention for example that he was disciplined by Spurs for organising an outing to Dublin for his fellow players contrary to orders from the manager, not to go on a celebration until the Xmas rush of games was over. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 12:51, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

U16 and U18 Euro wins?[edit]

He won the U16 UEFA Euro Champs in 1998, when he was 17? Also, the U18 Euro championships links to the U19 Euro championships, is this correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jam-Fly (talkcontribs) 16:47, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Goal Tallies[edit]

Why why why does the appearences/goals tally only show Premier League Goals? Its club apps and goals, not league —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 18:55, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

because the infobox template has a footnote about that which clearly states 'domestic league only' - I don't know why someone decided that is what it should be years ago, but that is what it is. I guess that is ultimately changeable, if you sant to battle for consesus. --T (talk) 19:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
The goal tallies in the tottnaham section need to be changed from (100 to 76) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gero13 (talkcontribs) 03:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I'll do that for you shall I ;-) Done! --T (talk) 06:16, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Roy Keane[edit]

who put the bit in about him NOT being related to Roy Keane? I've never heard anyone say that he was related to Roy, in fact I would say it's common knowledge that there is no relation.

It's because someone keeps putting in the article that he IS related to Roy Keane - Mike1971inter March 18th 2005.
where did Robbie go to University?
No harm in leaving the comment about him not being related to Roy Maurice so as to allay confusion. Didn't think Robbie went to University? Lochdale 03:23, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Fans usualy sing that their are only two keanos, not one.McAidan 20:09, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
They don't at Tottenham. I guess that fans of the Republic of Ireland national team may do but I don't know, that would be something that would need to be made clear. Thurls 08:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
I thought they were brothers and it has crept up on me for a couple of years. !! It's the blue hair and brown eyes.

This badly needs some NPOV treatment. -- 22:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Could someone please if this, some fool has done a job on it. We can take a joke, but this will take a long time to fix for whoever has to do it... not funny Htb50 20:44, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Done, in conjunction with Chickenflicker. Also added many missing sources, combined into new "References" section as there are so many. Best wishes, and hope the idiots de-camp somewhere else. Refsworldlee(chew-fat)(eds) 22:55, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Robbie Keane is 28 years old irish international striker who will probably become a Liverpool football club player in couple of days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 16:49, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Don't think so some how! Govvy (talk) 20:02, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

It is more than likely, however it is rightly removed per the protocol here at wikipedia regarding crystal-balling.Londo06 20:24, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Someone speculated that Robbie will be given the number 7 shirt - so I have changed it to a fact by saying the number 7 shirt is available (talk) 18:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC) Paul (Chasetown FC)

This is not an introduction, it is far too long. It needs to be integrated into the main article. Cloudz679 (talk) 14:12, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

I've removed further duplication and it looks fine now. Thanks for your help. Cloudz679 (talk) 10:41, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Transfer fee[edit]

transfer fee is wrong for re-joining and leaving Spurs. The bbc source which says 19m + add ons and the editor changed this to 18.3m + addons. He was made up a figure of 16.3m as the amount including add ons which Spurs may pay Liverpool when the source does not say how much. I believe the editor has made up these figures to argue a case on the bbc discusion forum I was taking part in as he quoted the wikipedia page which was edited around that time from what was correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Colmkav (talkcontribs) 20:02, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Fixed and cited. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 00:23, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I have not been able to verify his death, currently listed on the recent deaths page as the result of a meteor strike.

It does appear he has been on the outs with his current club Liverpool. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dfuertges (talkcontribs) 21:43, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

That was vandalism, not fact. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 22:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

in "international goals" there's a mistake:
>> 2001-11-10 Lansdowne Road, Dublin Czech Republic 2-0 Friendly match 1 (6) << but, 2001-11-10 is the same date of the match vs Iran so the date is wrong -- (talk) 20:22, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes that was a mistake. It is corrected now with the real date of the goal. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 01:29, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Career Stats, Mistake[edit]

Wolves 97-98 league apperances is incorrect. It does not tie up with the total. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 10:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

This page needs other pictures!!!! --Exorcist90 (talk) 17:19, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Competitive goal tally[edit]

I have added a line about Robbie Keane's international goal tally in competitive matches being 25 in the international career section. But it has been deleted three times; I don't understand why, it is a fact.-- (talk) 09:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Because it is repeated information when you do that, there is already two tally's one in the infobox and the last down the bottom of the page showing his goal tally. No need to added that in writing. Govvy (talk) 18:42, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Ireland Never Lost When Keane Has Scored?[edit]

Is This Really Correct? With 30+ Games This Is Quite An Achievement If True. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 10:46, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

It was true until late 2010 when Ireland lost 3-2 to Russia after Keane had scored one of Ireland goals. Also, Ireland drew 1-1 against Spain in the knockout stages of the 2002 World Cup. Robbie Keane scored Ireland Equalizer from a late Penalty. Ireland lost in a Penalty shootout. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 21:02, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

More vandalism[edit]

The small bit of the Celtic section which talks about the Old Firm derby is quite clearly vandalism - I'm not sure about the procedure for removing things like this, but since it's obviously NPOV (biased towards Rangers/ against Celtic/ Keane) it should really be removed. Apparently they're continuing to edit the Celtic section - maybe hoping that someone, somewhere will laugh if they keep repeating the same jokes. Doesn't wikipedia have an auto-ban system? (I was fairly certain there were some kinds of provisions for banning harmful IPs.)

Please stop editing intra-game[edit]

Can we agree not to edit players bio's intra-game? Its a little Silly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:59, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

What is this trying to say?[edit]

Towards the bottom of the international section someone has said "On June 4 2011, Robbie Keane scored twice against the Republic of Macedonia to become the top international scorer for Ireland with 51 goals in 108 appearances." Clearly this is not true as he became the top international scorer for Ireland some 6 years and 30 goals before last Saturday. I'm not entirely sure what they are trying to say or I'd just edit myself. (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:03, 7 June 2011 (UTC).

Me again, I created an account! I've changed this a bit it now says this match marks the point where he passed 50 goals. Hoosay (talk) 09:25, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

European Cup appearances for LA Galaxy?[edit]

Someone added a European Cup appearance for the LA Galaxy in the appearances and goals section. I'm sure it's supposed to mean a CONCACAF Champions League appearance??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 17:53, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Aston Villa goals[edit]

He has 3 league goals in 4 league appearances as of 05/02/2012 for Aston Villa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 14:50, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 21 January 2012. This has wrong date. The correct date is 5 February. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 18:19, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

No Irish footballer category?[edit]

Can someone please explain to me why Ireland is the only country in the world that does not have an Irish footballers category? Every other country from Northern Ireland to Norway to North Korea has a "Northern Irish", "Norwegian" and "North Korean" footballer category. I think there should be an "Irish footballer" category added for every Irish footballer and it intrigues me and bothers me as to why this isn't the case. Could someone please explain this to me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:21, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Goals in 10 Competitions[edit]

The stats show that Keane did not score in Serie A, however, the paragraph at the bottom of the opening section states he did. He did score in the Coppa Italia, Super Coppa Italia and in Europe for Inter though so one of those should be added in place of Serie A. (talk) 17:27, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

early life[edit]

he actually played for Fettercairn before Crumlin United as schoolboy — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 22:58, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

United. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sebastián Alfaro 16 (talkcontribs) 00:18, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Which county is Robbie Keane from?[edit]

We can agree that Robbie Keane was born in County Dublin in 1980 and moved to Wolverhampton (England) in 1995. User:Laurel Lodged has made SIX edits in a row to change the Category:Sportspeople from County Dublin to Category:Sportspeople from South Dublin (county), referring to the administrative county created in 1994. Which county do you think Robbie Keane should be described as from: the one in which he was born and raised, or the one that was created a few months before he left for England? And should Laurel Lodged receive a topic ban on edits relating to Irish counties? Brocach (talk) 00:52, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

He is clearly Irish! He even has an Irish accent, I don't know why you need to ask! Govvy (talk) 18:51, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
The only arbitor of this question is the usual wiki one: it's whatever that relaible, verifiable sources say it is. This source says that he is from Tallaght which is the county town of South Dublin. Are there any sources that disprove this source? Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:14, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Whatever the "relaible" "arbitors" say, Keane was born in 1980 in Tallaght, which was then and still is a town in County Dublin. The 1994 legislation that created "South Dublin" as an administrative entity clearly stated that County Dublin remained in existence for all purposes other than local government administration. So, when Keane was 14 years old, his parents' bins began to be lifted by "South Dublin" council, but he was, and still is, "from" County Dublin. Brocach (talk) 01:32, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
I was so busy rolling on the floor with helpless laughter at Brocach's many spelling jokes that I was unable to come to the PC before now, so apologies for the late reply. Oh my aching sides! They never get old, no matter how often they are repeated. Anyway, while I was tempted to point out that most of the above is inaccurate, I will instead confine myself to the comment that it is irrelevant as the issue will be decided at the central discussion here. Laurel Lodged (talk) 20:41, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Given the recent decision at WP:CFD here and the immenent decision here, would you not agree that current county boundaries are acceptable? Have you not read Brownhairedgirl's comment? Here it is for you "County Dublin is no longer an administrative county, and Fingal is one of the 4 sub-divisions which replaced it for administrative purposes. These new counties have clearly defined and stable boundaries, and form an excellent basis for sub-dividing Category:County Dublin.". I would also point you in the direction of Finnegas's WP:ANI case. He's thrown in the towel there. Laurel Lodged (talk) 22:08, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
(1) First CFD discussion was on another matter altogether; the second one, which you call "immenent", is not necessarily imminent as discussion is ongoing. (2) BHG is entitled to her views. (3) Finnegas' ANI case did not involve me in any way. Brocach (talk) 22:39, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Here's a few more of BHG's "opinions" : "what LL has been doing is diffusing articles to more specific sub-categories, which is routine category maintenance. So long as the categories exist, they should be populated ... and if editors think they should not exist, then nominate them at CFD. And don't depopulate them just because you disapprove of them. If they are merged at CFD, the changes will be made by a bot ... and if they are kept, then they should remain populated. Both Brocach and Finnegas you have done far too much depopulation of categories you dislike. If you continue, there could be sanctions." Finnegas doubted BHG's "opinion"; look where it got him. Your obstinacy here is just fuel to the fire of your future ANI case. Keep it up. Laurel Lodged (talk) 20:42, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
(shivers fearfully) Maybe you missed the shocking outcome of the last ANI case brought against me, by, as it happens, BHG. Brocach (talk) 21:41, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
As the cited offendee in the ANI case, I'm a bit annoyed that I was not informed. My forbearance seems to have been interpreted as "no offence was received". I could have brought plenty of valuable evidence to the table that would have contradicted much of what was offered in defence. In the end however, it was probably not needed; the defendant did an excellent job of being the best witness for the prosecution himself by a fine display of boorishness. While the comments of the closing admin admin were, "And we're done. Plenty of growing up all round to be done.", I fear that they were said more in hope than expectation. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:50, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

My two cents worth deals with a hypothetical. A man is born in Lwow, Poland in 1938. In 1939 Germany and Russia agree to carve Poland up, and the Russians incorporate Lwow into the old USSR as part of Ukraine. Is the man born in 1938 a Pole or a Ukrainian? (talk) 19:08, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Is South Dublin officially a county or an administrative area? As far as I know, the Republic still has 26 counties. (talk) 13:01, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Robbie Keane[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Robbie Keane's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "rsssf":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:30, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
