When was the J-2 developed?[edit]

The article doesn't give the date of development of the original J-2 design.AmateurEditor (talk) 20:49, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Removal of beryllium in J-2X[edit]

Why was beryllium removed from the J-2X and why was it in earlier versions to begin with? Axeman (talk) 00:05, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Good question that should be answered in the article. I can only speculate. Beryllium has low density, high melting point, high thermal conductivity, and high strength. All good reasons for using it in a rocket engine. It's also expensive and possibly carcinogenic, which are possible reasons for removing it. --71.214.210.201 (talk) 02:51, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
