Split[edit]

This is a fairly good article. However, it is very long. I think it should be split up into sub-articles, one for each site. Howicus (talk) 17:20, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Update: the first two sites already have articles, so the information here should be merged there. Howicus (talk) 17:23, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
I've removed the gallery in the Ulpiana section, since it is entirely duplicated in the main Ulpiana article. With that, I'm going to remove the length tag. Howicus (talk) 16:57, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

"Profane" Buildings?[edit]

A question for User:Atdheu, who wrote the section in question. In the article, Ulpiana is described as having "various other public, sacral, profane and utilitarian buildings.". My question is this: what is a "profane" building? Howicus (talk) 17:20, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

It would be my guess that it is something of the nature of a public house or a bath where some profane act happened, but that is just a guess. The author of the source is Milot Berisha, an Archaeologist with the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo. I will contact him with the above mentioned question and will get back to you as soon as I get an answer. Regads, --Atdheu (talk) 22:54, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi Howicus, I got a reply from the author of the profane writing and his response was as cited:

profane - not concerned with or devoted to religion; "secular architecture". The English word "profane" ultimately derives from Latin pro fano, "before, i.e. outside, the temple", "In front of the sanctuary," hence not within sacred ground. Hope it answers your question.
