[Untitled][edit]

Rory himself, not his wife, was related to king James through his Scottish mother Inion Dubh, who was descended from the 1st earl of Lennox.2001:7D0:87F3:3E80:DD3B:9FE7:1DC9:91CA (talk) 17:49, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Here is Rory`s descent from the Lennox family:John Stewart,1st earl of Lennox-Elizabeth Campbell-Colin Campbell,3rd earl of Argyll-Agnes Campbell-Inion Dubh-Rory O´Donnell. And the same John Stewart was direct male-line ancestor of king James. So king and Rory were relatively close cousins indeed. But Bridget Fitzgerald clearly was not closely related to Stuarts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:7D0:87F3:3E80:B18E:3B92:8D3B:3E69 (talk) 23:19, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Motto[edit]

"when Bernini restored the Scala Regia, he placed a sculpture of his own making there, an equestrian statue of Emperor Constantine, and re-designed the stairway such that light shines down through a window above, with the (inter alia) O'Donnell motto In Hoc Signo Vinces, reminiscent of Constantine's vision, overhead. The motto appears prominently placed on a sculpted ribbon unfurled with a passion cross to its left,..." - In Hoc Signo Vinces may be the O'Donnell motto from the 1500s, but it was supposedly said to Constantine and copied centuries later by the O'Donnells, and its presence in the Vatican has nothing to do with them.78.16.104.162 (talk) 14:18, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
