Is this seriously an encyclopedia article?![edit]

The "description" of this song is horrid, with all respect to its author(s). Grammar, tense, syntax and just about everything else are simply awful, and it reads as one individual's assessment of her life as scripted by tabloid media rather than a neutral presentation of the song and/or video and why it's notable per WP:SONG (it's notable in that it's her first-ever single, and the article all but throws away that fact in favor of someone's individual research). As written, this qualifies for speedy deletion, and I will do so absent a top-to-bottom rewrite. Sorry if I seem harsh, but these are the facts. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 04:27, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:LL-Rumors.jpg[edit]

Image:LL-Rumors.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lip Sync?[edit]

Lindsay Lohan was caught lip syncing on to this song on Good Morning America live on TV. YouTube has a video of it: [1] (See around 2:13 - 2:17 where she's singing "I just need to clear my mind... my mind...") —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.159.151.3 (talk) 05:09, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I will review this article :) Till 10:22, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • It was released as the first single from the album --> so lead single?
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lead and "background/composition" section state that it derives from the "teen pop" genre although the Infobox does not.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • critics --> music critics
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • It received mixed reviews from critics, who deemed it as infectious, yet unnecessary. --> Did some critics call it infectious and unnecessary? Or did some call it infectious, while others called it unnecessary?
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • An accompanying music video was directed by Jake Nava and features Lohan in several scenes dancing in club like surroundings and running from the paparazzi, emphasizing the song's theme. --> Something annoys me here. It seems hard to digest.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Background and composition[edit]

  • New York, New York -> Distinguish from city and state please
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lead states that the song was released on 21 September 2004 although this is nowhere in the article (besides infobox).
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

  • The song received generally mixed reviews from contemporary critics. -> Start with the song's actual title, "Rumors", and again - music critics.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Some quotes could do with some paraphrasing
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think it is worthy of mentioning that it was certified Gold by ARIA (in Australia).
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • It also charted in Sweden and Netherlands.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Promotion[edit]

  • Commissioned is spelt wrong.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are some commas that need to be put in the music video section for a better flow.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Credits and personnel[edit]

  • Make a column for personnel.
Why is this necessary? - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Because it looks more appealing Till 03:15, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Track listings[edit]

Weekly charts[edit]

  • Need to be separated into 2004 and 2005 peaks.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

  • Make it only two columns. Three forces it for those on smaller screens.
     Fixed - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • References are all fine
    Thank you! :) - Saulo Talk to Me 20:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move. Arguments regarding the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC don't apply here, as neither article is the primary topic of the title Rumors; they need to be effectively disambiguated regardless. Cúchullain t/c 19:59, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rumors (song)Rumors (Lindsay Lohan song) – There is another more notable Rumors song, Rumors (Timex Social Club song). Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 10:15, 4 July 2012 (UTC) Morbidthoughts (talk) 22:28, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Two articles with the same name, so should be disambiguated. Till 09:04, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The Timex Social Club song was a Top Ten Pop and #1 R&B hit in the US, more notable than Lohan song which did not even make the Top 100. Redirect Rumors (song) to Rumor (disambiguation); few people actually type "Rumors (song)". —  AjaxSmack  01:23, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. WP:PRIMARYTOPIC does not apply here; neither of these articles will be the primary topic and moved to Rumors -- getting readers navigated to the article they are most likely seeking from an unqualified title is the purpose of primary topic. So these song articles need to be qualified. If we agree that they need to be qualified, WP:NCM tells us how to do so, and does not rely on the relative usage of the two songs. -- JHunterJ (talk) 12:46, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
