Debut/Links etc.[edit]

He's just signed on-loan for Yeovil Town along with Steven Caulker http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=9697 and http://www.prideofsomerset.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=368:spurs-duo-to-join-yeovil&catid=1:latest&Itemid=4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.173.5.196 (talk) 14:26, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He's scored two goals for Yeovil already. The first a free kick against Colchester (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8200458.stm) and the second a superb strike against Exeter to earn a draw (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8205208.stm). More needs to be written about this emerging talent.

Also note the number of goals he scored last season for the academy, 29 in 31 games (http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/players/reserves/ryanmason.html).—Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.173.5.196 (talk) 09:36, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can edit the article! Govvy (talk) 18:54, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a member of Wikipedia. I tried joining, but when I edited an article someone removed it. I found it very hostile. In fact, I think it was this article and it was you! So be my guest! I was just trying to help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.173.5.196 (talk) 11:08, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think you must be mistaken, I created this page after he made his debut. Your IP hasn't made any editions to the article and your IP appears to be static. Also you don't need to be a member to edit an this article. Govvy (talk) 17:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably on another page. Anyway, no hard feelings, we're both Spurs fans. Did you see his goals? He was on "goals of the week" on BBC Sport (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8212866.stm).

I (the non-member above) have joined as Spurs1981. I have made some additions to this page which I hope will be gratefully accepted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spurs1981 (talkcontribs) 13:48, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tribute to Ryan Mason[edit]

@Govvy: and @Keith D: - It is always a sad story to forcibly retire from football at a relatively small career, spanning smaller than ten years. Over the years, he has played with many good friends like Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker (who were both at Tottenham at the time), Sam Clucas, David Meyler (at Hull City) and many others. At his time with Tottenham, he has spent some first team experience on loan to lower divisional clubs and in France in 2013. He played well at Tottenham, scoring two goals against Swansea City and Sunderland. After making a half-century plus three League appearances with Spurs, he played with Hull City, playing League football 16 times. On the 16th appearance, I know in my heart that this was completely unintentional, the enjoyable career of Mason playing football came to a sorry end.

Many people who know him well, including Harry Maguire, Robert Snodgrass & Gareth Bale, along with Gary Lineker, Gary Cahill & Nigel Atkins plus Spurs, Chelsea and Hull City wishes him all the best, and so am I with this talk page message. Thanks, Iggy (Swan) 21:51, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Forced retirement? Or advised to retire?[edit]

The lead says he was forced to retire, but technically that not quite right, he was advised to retire by a number of specialists. I think we need to make sure the information we write is correct. Govvy (talk) 12:55, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May be "retired on medical advice"? Keith D (talk) 13:40, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Keith D: Hows that change on lead? Govvy (talk) 16:08, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Govvy: That looks OK, and covers the situation better than the forced retirement which gives no background to the decision. Keith D (talk) 17:57, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just spotted we still have a "forced to retire" in the first paragraph. May be this needs removing to avoid the duplication? Keith D (talk) 18:47, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Good spot! heh, can't beleive I missed that! Fixed it. Govvy (talk) 19:09, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
