Greatest woman player

[edit]
verbatim copy of part of Talk:Helen Sobel Smith#Sources -P64
  • Regarding the "greatest woman player", it has been said of both Helen and Dorothy Truscott so much as, ahem, that each is/was universally considered the best ever. Judy Kay-Wolff is one example regarding Helen (blog 2010-12-26). In Comment later that day, Kay-Wolff "far from qualified" herself, paraphrased remarks by Bobby Wolff on Edith Kemp, Sabine Auken, and present gals, and remarked herself on Sally Young.[1]

Sabine Auken–Roy Welland

[edit]
posted also to Talk:Roy Welland#Sabine Auken–Roy Welland -P64

We should learn the crux of Roy Welland's eligibility to represent Germany in European/EBL and World/WBF competition. The German national bridge federation DBV website probably explains it somewhere. (I can't read it well enough to cover the point here if I were to seek and find it there.)

October 2014, in the off-year world championship meet (where all entries may be transnational, although some national bridge federations may pay expenses for some), Auken–Welland finished 1st in Mixed Teams, 5th in Mixed Pairs, and 3rd in Open Teams --as i understand DBV-News: 14. Red Bull World Bridge Series in Sanya, China.

Marriage to Ron Andersen

[edit]

Quoting the 1997 obituary of Ron Andersen, Sabine Zenkel's ~1990 American bridge partner and co-author (Alan Truscott, The New York Times 1997-07-13):[2]

"He was married three times, and two of his former wives are world bridge champions: Sue Picus of Manhattan and Sabine Zenkel Auken of Copenhagen."

Surprising news to me.

Marriage to Jens Auken

Jens Auken is a deceased (highlighted yellow) World Life Master in the WBF Master Points WBF AllTime Open Ranking (by PPs and then MPs). --P64 (talk) 20:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I found an obituary here. JH (talk page) 21:47, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
For its English-language content, Infobridge.IT Jens AUKEN uses the same text with this sentence appended: "The October 12, 2014 the Executive Council awarded him posthumously with the WBF Gold Pin." Meanwhile its Sabine AUKEN concludes with this clunky paragraph: "Sabine that in addition to the Bridge, love golf, skiing and, tennis, while maintaining an intense friendship Jens divorced in 2005." --P64 (talk) 22:36, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
