I notice no reference for the point about the top floor being originally planned to be a swimming pool and not the gym it subsequently became. I worked in the building for many years and heard the story several times, but always took it to be a myth. For those that don't know, the space is rather long and narrow, and you can see where the idea might have come from. However, a pool would have needed a bigger gap down to the floor below. Also surely they would have known how many extra tons of water they would have been adding to the structure. It they wanted to add a pool, I would have expected it low down in the basement. 86.13.252.247 (talk) 10:35, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
