Doña Ana County now issuing marriage licenses[edit]

As of August 21, 2013, Doña Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins has announced that he will begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Doña Ana County is a large county containing New Mexico's second largest city, Las Cruces, near its center, and suburban El Paso, Texas communities such as Anthony, Santa Teresa, and Sunland Park in its southern portion. Los Alamos County[edit]

County clerk refuses to issue same-sex marriage licenses. The clerk must appear Sept. 4 in state district court. Judge upholds ruling, orders clerk to issue licenses. Clerk says she'll comply, but she'll continue using male/female forms. KOB: http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S3148764.shtml?cat=500 Fortguy (talk) 18:16, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Court cases[edit]

Should Newton v. Stover be covered under this heading? Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 20:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think so. Sets a precedent for SSM being upheld despite a legal challenge to the judge's writ of mandamus. -Kudzu1 (talk) 22:37, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A day without changes?[edit]

Could it be that the situation in New Mexico is slowing down enough that it doesn't feel like we should be doing this on Wikinews instead? :)

Lede outdated[edit]

The first paragraph reads a little disjointedly. The "as of September 9, 2013" bit specifying counties makes it seem as though that were the current state, at first glance. Some of those details are probably fine further down the page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gameboyguy13 (talkcontribs) 09:38, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I made a change to emphasize the sequence. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 13:27, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
