Do you have the full list of surnames?

A correction.[edit]

According to H.A. Rose whose book has been used as a reference for explaining Sandhu clan mentions that Jatts have Scythic origin. Sandhus being jatts belong to the same race (Scythians) and Sindh Punjab is considered as their old dominated area. As mentioned on the main page of the article that Sandhus originated from Ram Chander's lineage actually contaradicts the theory of origin of Sandhus given in the same book that has been used as reference for writing the main article, H.A. Rose. Ayodhaya is in Uttar Pradesh which is totally disjointed from state of Punjab and hence Sindh. *None* of the books about Jatt history and origin claims any non-scythic origin of jatts. Jatt is not a caste. It is a race and being *One* race it has *One* point of origin not multiple.

Above article has written by a person who feels inferior in every term. If you are Sandhu> Where are you from? I am from Dadehar Sahib. Please watch "Spencer Wells - The journey of man". Ram is existed since 3000 years. We have only one race 'Human' . Do you know "Baba Kala Mehar Sandhu" You have to know recently history at least. Best to visit some university and try to locate professors of Punjabi. It is not good idea to do reseach online and form their stupid opinion.

To whom it may concern Thank you for keeping this main page very simple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.219.28.7 (talk) 17:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

i am a sandhu and proud of it.

This whole page needs several corrections. It is poorly written, badly referenced, makes unfounded claims and employs hyperbole - taken together, these make the whole page ridiculous.

Yes the page need attention and has to be recreated for proper information and liability. Akash singh sandhu (talk) 18:11, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

This is Wikipedia and we have certain policies that should be followed. One of those concerns verifiability. It is no good adding information to this article unless you can provide a reliable source that verifies it. I appreciate that you are a member of the community but that does not permit you to avoid the standards that the Wikipedia community has set. Indeed, ignoring verifiability requirements amounts to original research. - Sitush (talk) 21:28, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Sandhu[edit]

Hi I am a Sandhu (Harpreet Singh Sandhu) and this is the first time I have ever herd that Maharaja Ranjit Singh is a Sandhu. I have a keen interest in Sikh history and wondered if there are secondary sources to confirm Maharaja Ranjit Singh is a Sandhu because I have yet to independently confirm that Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a Sandhu let alone a Jatt. Once again I thank people who have contributed to making this page. 124.190.91.227 (talk) 11:06, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Maharaja Ranjit Singh[edit]

SanjitChudha 17:46, 8 May 2010 (UTC)I believe Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a Sandhu as his father was a Sandhu, and because he married within the Sandhu clan. See http://www.jattworld.com/portal/modules/mysections/article.php?lid=44

Maharaja Ranjit Singh's father was Mahāṅ Siṅgh Sukkarchakkīā (not Sandhu) and none of his wives were Sandhu. His first wife was the daughter of GURBAKHSH SIṄGH KANHAIYĀ. See the Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, published by Punjab University, Patiala. Apuldram (talk) 12:16, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

On a related note I have to say the article is very poorly written. The use of English is appalling. As an Indian Sikh (Sandhu on the distaff side) English is a second language to me, yet even I can spot a lot that is wrong with this page. Several grammatical and factual inaccuracies remain. That said, thank you to the originating editor for starting the page off.SanjitChudha 17:46, 8 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by SanjitChudha (talkcontribs)

Quality of the article[edit]

Guys we need to get rid of statements like the bravest tribe. I understand, in numbers they are the largest Punjabi Jat tribe. But we need the article to objective.

YOU Why get rid of bravest tribe. DNA does paly a factor.. Sandhu's are bravest. I think Sandhu created this world... Sandhu.. means people from Indus.. who created the whole world "indus civilization' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.166.181.235 (talk) 16:19, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Accessibility of the article[edit]

I wanted to find out what 'Sandhu' meant, and unfortunately can't say that this article made me any more informed. I call on the primary editors to rewrite the lead section (at least) to clearly explain what Sandhu is. —Ynhockey (Talk) 23:58, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

This article is still just one line. I cannot belive someone hasn't completed this article. 174.6.44.36 (talk) 21:11, 30 April 2014 (UTC)31jetjet

Formating of article[edit]

Please will the 115.240.x.x anon who keeps adjusting this article make themselves aware of the requirements of WP:MOSFLAG, WP:OVERLINK, WP:V, WP:Citing sources, WP:HONORIFIC, WP:NLIST and WP:MOSHEAD]. Also, please note that using the format "Sandhu/Sindhu" is poor: stick with the article title and if you can provide verification that the two terms are synonymous then we simply adjust the first sentences to begin: "Sandhu (also known as Sindhu) ....". Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 07:48, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Recent reverts/removals[edit]

There have been a couple of reverts/reinstatements of content today. I've left a note with one contributor who was involved but, more generally, would point people to our policy regarding verifiability. It is pretty safe to assume that any statements added to this article will require reliable sources. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 18:45, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Sourcing and notability[edit]

I can see plenty of passing mentions in sources that are deemed to be unreliable, such as books by Rose, Nijjar and Tyagi. I'm struggling to find any decent mentions in sources that would be acceptable. Is this a notable community or not? - Sitush (talk) 16:45, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
