History[edit]

Nice to see an article that's honest about how the band started, although it bears mentioning that the band was initially known as "The Secret Machines of Captain Audio" when performing in Dallas and that it was basically a collective of whoever they could get to play...

This link backs me up: http://www.dallasobserver.com/Issues/1999-07-15/music/streetbeat.html

What the hell is a "Potential Song?" if there is no song, there is NO SONG. This section needs to be yanked out.

Fair use rationale for Image:Secret Machines-Now Here Is Nowhere (album cover).jpg[edit]

Image:Secret Machines-Now Here Is Nowhere (album cover).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved. Andrewa (talk) 09:06, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Secret MachinesSecret Machines – All of the band's albums have the name as "Secret Machines". The group's name seems to be grammatically akin to Smoking Popes, without a definite article. The Secret Machines redirect has a second edit, recapitalizing the word "redirect", that blocks the pagemove (and is probably the reason somebody didn't do this years sooner). • Support. Annoyingly, this is not 100% clear-cut, as there are reliable sources that do use the "the", and even the website listed on the albums is thesecretmachines.com. However, they call themselves "Secret Machines" on the albums, and reliable sources do so, too. --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 19:04, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as per above, but also it is clearly the commonname here. Tiggerjay (talk) 00:27, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Cruft?[edit]

I could easily revert this edit as cruft, but I've let it stand. Some of it would seem to be synthesis, and while it names sources that are not well specified. Comments? Wwwhatsup (talk) 00:59, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
