B.W. Stevenson's life story

This article reads like it was written by B.W. Stevenson or his mother. The only reason this song is known today and even merits a Wiki article is because of Three Dog Night's extremely successful cover. I have rearranged the article, but have left intact Mr. Stevenson's life story which is clearly gratuitous in this context. Jrgilb (talk) 02:38, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

   Without pursuing my curiosity about whether Jrg...'s edit, or a later editor's, is responsible for the awkward structure of the accompanying article (and the seeming characterization of the present mere mention as a "life story"), i find that at present the article ill-serves our readers: both the lead and the two bio sections are arranged contrary to chronology, and the "Chart" and "Other media" sections lack clarity as to whether they implicitly refer to the St'son version. I tentatively think the appropriate solution is for Shambala (song) to make mention of Stevenson only in a hatnote link:

This article is about the better-known recording. For the B.W. Stevenson recording, see Shambala (Stevenson song).

(I think we have a history of flexibility about whether the suffix " (song)" indicates the composition, or the most significant recorded performance of the composition, and Rdrs are cheap. So for completeness, deconfusion, and/or symmetry, Shambala (Three Dog Night song) can Rdr to Shambala (song). BTW, i'm happy to let editors who are more serious rock fans make judgments about retention of the Stevenson info.)
   There's no urgency -- especially now, a half-decade along -- so a few days' wait allowing for colleagues' input seems to me judicious.
