Adrien de Pauger, the French architect who developed the plan for rebuilding New Orleans after the city was entirely destroyed in the fire of 1788 March 21. After two centuries, the French Quarter still conforms to de Pauger's original street plan.
Since this area was part of Jefferson City, which New Orleans annexed in 1870, shouldn't it also now be in Orleans Parish? Is it still considered a distinct neighborhood?Bruin2 (talk) 19:31, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Actually, Shrewsbury was not part of Jefferson City. Jefferson City was located in what is now uptown New Orleans, and Shrewsbury was located in Jefferson Parish near modern Causeway Blvd. Britinvasion64 (talk) 06:28, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
